SBU terminated in Dnipro city illegal activities of representatives of the private detective firm, which provided services on clandestine tapping of smartphones’ users.

Operatives of the special service established that offenders provided "services" for scanning of electronic correspondence in messengers, as well as collecting restricted information to individuals and legal entities.

Law enforcement officers documented the fact of the installation by offenders of software containing signs of a special technical device of surreptitious obtaining of information, on a smartphone of one of the surveillance objects. According to expert estimates, detected by the SBU spying device let to record and tap phone conversations, gain unauthorized access to information, which stored and processed in the mobile communications terminal, as well as control E-mail correspondence in popular messengers. Surveillance over each “client” was estimated at USD 3,000.

During searches in the offices of offenders and places of residence of involved persons, law enforcement officers found and seized the media storages with detailed data of mobile users’ phone connections, information containing bank secret, personal data of the surveillance objects, which are subjected to protection.

Currently, the officials of banking institutions and law enforcement agencies, which contributed to the illegal obtaining of additional data on "clients", as well as customers of illegal services, are being identified.

The criminal proceeding is initiated under Art. 359 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The issue of serving notices of suspicion to the offenders and choosing the measure of restraint is being decided.
