SBU officers exposed on bribery the head of criminal police sector of one of the district units of the National Police of Zhytomyr region.

Operatives of the special service established that the official extorted monthly bribes from the local private entrepreneur. For this, an attacker promised the businessman not to interfere in his business activities.

Initially, the entrepreneur transferred to extorter money personally, then – transferred to a bank card. Law enforcement officers have documented such several "tranches".

During searches at the place of service of the policeman a bank card, on which the bribes were transferred and mobile phones, with evidence of illegal actions of the official were seized.

Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the issue of serving to the detainee a notice of suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint is being settled.

Investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the case.

The operation was conducted by the operatives of the SBU Office in Zhytomyr region with the State Investigative Bureau Territorial Administration located in Khmelnytskyi city under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
