SBU disclosed and detained official of the municipal enterprise "Kharkiv Heating Networks” for obtaining improper advantage.

According to the special service, an official with his colleagues from the municipal enterprise and representatives of the district administrations of Kharkiv city established systematic extortion and receiving of money from the local residents for immediate processing and issuance of documents, necessary for individual heating. In particular, it is documented that an attacker demanded UAH 55 thousand from the home owner in the aparts house, who planned to switch to autonomous heating.

The law enforcement officers detained the exactor in the office while receiving the first “tranche” amounting to UAH 20 thousand.

The issue of serving to detainee notice of suspicion of committing a crime, stipulated by Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and choosing a measure of restraint is being settled.

The urgent investigative and operative actions on bringing to criminal responsibility other officials involved in the illegal deal are under way.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv region investigators under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
