SBU officials blocked the illegal supply of potentially dangerous to life and health of people counterfeit alcoholic products to retail network in Transcarpathian region. The law enforcement seized counterfeit excise goods worth UAH 15,000,000 (USD 600,000) at the warehouses.

SBU operatives established that locals rented warehouses in Uzhhorod and Hust to store the ready-for-sale alcohol products, including probably counterfeit excise marks. Dealers sold wholesale the goods of doubtful quality to the retailers within the region.    

The law enforcement seized almost 160 tones of counterfeit alcohol during the searches at the storing places. The searches are under way.

The criminal proceeding is ongoing. The sources of counterfeit production and individuals involved in the unlawful actions are being identified.

The operation was conducted jointly with State Fiscal Service under the supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office of Tranthcarpathian region.
