The Security Service of Ukraine stopped the embezzlement of the funds allocated for repair of the roads in Dnipropetrovsk region.

According to the investigation, one of the contractor companies, which carried out major repairs of highways in Kryvyi Rih, set a mechanism of appropriation of budget money. The contractors entered into accounting and technical documentation false data about the volume of performed works and used materials.

According to preliminary estimates, the fraud caused losses of almost UAH 10 million (USD 400,000) to the state budget.

The law enforcement found documentation and off-the-book financial statements, which prove the illegal activity of the contractor company, during the searches at its production facilities and offices.     

The director of the company is served a notice of suspicion for misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation.

The investigative actions on bringing to responsibility other people involved in the illegal activity are under way.

The operation was conducted with the National Police under the supervision of the local Prosecutor's Office №3.
