SBU and National Memory Institute of Slovak Republic sign agreement on cooperation

The delegation of the National Memory Institute of the Slovak Republic led by the Chairman of the Board Jan Palffy and the executives of the State Sectoral Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine signed an agreement on cooperation in the archival field. The signing ceremony took place in Kyiv with the participation of Marek Safina, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic in Ukraine.

This document will enhance cooperation in scientific and archival research, as well as facilitate the exchange of experience between the institutions. The National Memory Institute of the Slovak Republic is a government institution that keeps the archives of former communist special services of Czechoslovakia. Therefore, the establishment of fruitful cooperation between the two institutions is important for the study of the common past of our countries.

"Signing of the cooperation agreement with the Slovak side indicates the crucially new level of cooperation in the field of restoration of historical memory of our peoples, this agreement will strengthen Ukraine’s and Slovak Republic’s positions”, the SBU Sectoral State Archive Director Andrii Kohut summarized.

During the meeting, the Parties also discussed future directions for cooperation. The guests also learned more about the activity of the SBU Archive, in particular, they were presented the documents on the history of the Slovak Republic of the 20th century, contained in the Archive repositories.
