SBU with the units of State Bureau of Investigations, under the procedural supervision of the General Prosecutor’s Office prevented the state losses in especially large amounts during the construction of berth of Mykolaiv port.

Within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings, the law enforcement officers conducted searches in the premises of the Mykolayiv branch of the state enterprise "Ukrainian seaports Authority".

According to the investigation, officials of state enterprises are suspected of that within the contract on state investments in the construction of the berth they have accepted and paid services that were not actually provided. In addition, according to the investigation, a significant part of the received public funds, they could convert into cash and embezzle through the controlled sham companies.

These actions of participants of illegal activities, probably, became one of the factors that caused the failure of implementation of the Government-approved state infrastructure project and plans of strategic development of the Mykolaiv seaport valued at UAH 379 million.

Due to the measures taken by the law enforcement officers, the management of the state enterprise "Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority" decided to terminate the contract to prevent losses to the state in especially large amounts.

The investigations are ongoing.
