SBU prevents illegal sales of military destruction means in several regions of Ukraine
SBU blocked the illicit sale of weapons, ammo and explosives in several regions of Ukraine.
So, according to the investigation, Kyiv city resident tried to set up a mechanism of illegal sale of destruction means. He stored the dangerous goods in a specially arranged hiding-place at his residence. The person involved looked for potential ‘clients’ among his acquaintances, particularly on the territory of Donetsk region.
The law enforcement officers have documented unlawful selling of VOG-17 grenade launcher, 400 grams of trotyl, as well as three RGD-5 and F-1 grenades in Mariupol. He wanted to get UAH 10,000 (USD 400) for the weapons.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime stipulated by Part 1 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition, he received custody as a restraint.
The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Donetsk region.
The SBU officers also prevented the illegal sale of munitions in Cherkasy city.
It is established that local resident staying in a detention facility on suspicion of committing a crime tried to sell weapons and ammo. He looked for his clients using his ties in criminal circles. Furthermore, the person involved engaged his mediator on the outside to help him in selling ammos.
The law enforcement documented several facts of illegal sale of RPG-18 grenade launcher, two F-1 grenades and more than 20 rounds of ammunition.
The confiscated munitions have been sent for examination. The issue of serving to the offender a notice of suspicion of committing the crime is being settled. In order to identify all circumstances of the case and other persons involved in illegal activity, the investigative actions are ongoing. Information concerning illegal origin of the seized destruction means from the area of the Joint Forces Operation is being checked.
