Chernihiv region: Two corrupt policemen detained by SBU are sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment
Two corrupt police officers of the special units of rapid mobility of Pryluky Police Unit in Chernihiv region who were detained by SBU operatives on receiving an illegal financial gain had been sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.
SBU officers have documented the fact that the officials extorted money from a local resident for non-bringing him to administrative responsibility for drunk driving.
In December 2016, the law enforcement detained the police officers in their official car on receiving the total amount of the bribe.
According to the court decision both criminals were found guilty of committing a crime stipulated by Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The offenders shall be punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 years with confiscation of property, deprivation of special ranks and the right to occupy positions in law enforcement agencies for a term of 2 years.
The Court of Appeal left the decision of the court of first instance unchanged.
The sentence came into force.
