SBU exposes corrupt chief of sector of Kyiv District Police Department
SBU officers exposed the chief of the Prevention sector of a Kyiv District Police Department on systematic bribe-taking.
Allegedly, the officer extorted monthly “tribute” in amount of UAH 2,000 (USD 80) from a local businessman for unhampered business activity. The officer has been receiving bribes for 1,5 year.
The suspect was detained on receiving another regular payment in Baryshivka Town (in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine). Earlier, the law enforcement documented that the police officer took “tribute” for the previous month.
The issue of serving the officer a notice of suspicion of bribe-taking (P.3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is being decided.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigations in Kyiv city, with the assistance of the Internal Security Department of the National Police, under the guidance of the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv region.
