SBU prevents ecstasy smuggling in Kyiv
SBU employees blocked two attempts of psychotropic substance smuggling from EU countries via postal service.
Allegedly, contraband delivery of drugs was planned by two Kyiv residents.
One of them ordered pilot batch of ecstasy on a specialized foreign web-site. The law enforcement seized 50 pills of MDMA from a package, which was sent from Europe to the “customer”.
SBU also exposed a Kyiv university student on attempt of drugs smuggling. The student used a similar scheme.
In total, the law enforcement seized narcotics with a street value of almost UAH 40,000 (USD 1,600).
Both detainees were served a notice of suspicion of smuggling of narcotics, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors (Art. 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation is ongoing to establish all the details of the cases.
The operations were conducted jointly with the Kyiv City Customs under the supervision of Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv.
