Ivan Beziazykov is convicted to 13-year imprisonment for high treason
SBU Military CI materials helped to convict Ivan Beziazykov to 13-year imprisonment for high treason.
SBU multi-stage operation resulted in collecting and submitting to court irrefutable proof that former intelligence chief of the 8th Army Corps of the Ground Forces of Ukraine Ivan Beziazykov was guilty.
To remind, in 2014 Ivan Beziazykov negotiated with the militants about possible exchange of wounded and killed in action, and was captured by the Russian terrorist groups during the negotiation.
The chief of the so-called Intelligence Department of the Republican Guard of the “DNR”, callsign “Khmuryi”, a career officer of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia (GRU) Serhii Dubinskyi invited Ivan Beziazykov to serve in the “DNR” Intelligence Department. The Ukrainian colonel accepted the proposal.
SBU established that Ivan Beziazykov voluntarily joined the “DNR” Intelligence Department subordinate to GRU of Russia. He was collecting, assessing and summarizing intelligence about ATO forces, for further use by the terrorist in military aggression against Ukrainian Army.
During his collaboration with the “DNR” terrorist organization, Ivan Beziazykov took part in recruitment of Ukrainian prisoners of war, held by the terrorists. He also helped the militants to plan intelligence and subversive operations against the ATO forces.
On April 7th, 2020 the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv found Ivan Beziazykov guilty of high treason (P. 1 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization (P. 1 Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Beziazykov was convicted to 13-year imprisonment and deprived of the rank of colonel.
The defense has the right to appeal the court decision.
