SBU materials help to convict drug cartel leader in Kyiv
SBU materials helped to convict organiser of a drug cartel, members of which smuggled big batches of extasy from Europe for further sale in Kyiv.
The employees of the SBU Main Directorate for Fighting Corruption and Organized Crime blocked the criminal group in summer, 2017. The SBU detained at a Kyiv bus terminal the leader of the criminal group, who was personally trafficking a batch of drugs, together with his accessory. The law enforcement conducted searches of luggage and seized 6,000 pills of MDMA psycotrophic substance and 300 g of metamphetamine worth UAH 600,000 (USD 21,500) at black-market price.
Sviatoshynskyi district court of Kyiv City found the organiser guilty of iilegal storage and transportation of narcotics (P. 3 Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and convicted him to 9-year imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The criminal is currently doing his term.
The trial of his accessory is under way.
