SBU blocked in two regions of Ukraine illegal sale of weapons and munitions.

SBU exposed in Kherson a clandestine manufacture, where weapons were made for further sale. Allegedly, the illegal business was set up by a local representative of private security company. His accomplice was a Kherson resident, who rearranged his own residence into clandestine manufacture for reequipping starter guns into military weapons.

The suspects ordered details for shooting guns from abroad and received them via international postal services. Previously, the SBU documented fact of illegal sale of five reequipped military weapons by the suspects. During the searches of the suspects’ residences, the law enforcement seized three more reequipped military weapons and details for “modernization” of guns.

The issue of serving the detainees notices of suspicion of unlawful handling of weapons, ammunition and explosives (P. 1 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is being settled.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kherson region.

SBU blocked in Chernihiv the activity of an organized criminal group, specializing in illegal sale of military weapons.

Allegedly, three residents of Chernihiv City illegally stored weapons and munitions in their own residences for further sale. They searched for clients through personal contacts in local criminal circles.

Previously, the SBU documented the fact of illegal sale of Nagant revolver by the suspects.

SBU employees detained the suspects on a Chernihiv street during their attempt to sell AKS-74 machine gun with silencer and almost 300 rounds for UAH 36,000 (USD 1,300).

During the searches of suspects’ residences and vehicles, the law enforcement seized blade weapons, amphetamine and money, presumably obtained by criminal activity.

The seized weapons are being examined by the experts.

The issues of serving the suspects notices of suspicion and choosing a form of detention are being settled.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Chernihiv region.
