SBU exposed misappropriation of public funds by the manager of the contracting company during major road repairs in Zhazhkiv City in Cherkasy region.

SBU employees established that the manager of a construction company concluded an agreement with Zhazhkiv City council on major road repairs with the total amount of works worth UAH 3,5 million (USD 120,600). The law enforcement documented that the contractor entered false data to work completion certificates about cost of the finished major road repairs and expenses on materials.

According to the experts, the city suffered UAH 2,5 million (USD 86,200) losses due to the unlawful actions of the manager of the contracting company.

The manager was served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation (P. 5 Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The article provides for up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation is ongoing to establish and bring to justice all the persons involved into the criminal activity.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Cherkasy region.
