SBU finished pre-trial investigation into case of Kateryna Handziuk
The Security Service of Ukraine under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office finished the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding on suspicion of Chairman of Kherson Regional Council Vladyslav Munher and Assistant Consultant of deputy Oleksii Levin in organizing the attack on Kateryna Handziuk.
“All information is prepared, the SBU officers have professionally completed their work and gathered sufficient evidence that will clearly prove the prosecution position in court. I hope that this case will be primary for consideration. The hit men and those who instigated the murder of Kateryna Handziuk will get their comeuppance,” said the Head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov.
Allegedly, Munher in prior conspiracy with Levin organized the attack on Kateryna Handziuk and caused the grievous bodily harm, which led to the death of the woman. Munher and Levin are suspected of committing the crimes stipulated by P.3 Art.27, P.2 Art.28 та P.2 Art.121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The SBU investigators informed the suspects, their defenders, victims and their representatives of the finished pre-trial investigation. All parties have an access to investigation files. Once the defence becomes familiar with the criminal proceedings, it will be sent to a court for substantive consideration.
We remind that five people have already been sentenced: the mastermind Serhii Torbin and his accomplices - Mykyta Hrabchuk, Volodymyr Vasyanovych, Vyacheslav Vyshnevskyi and Viktor Horbunov. They are sentenced to imprisonment from three to six and a half years.
The Chairman of Kherson Regional Council Vladyslav Munher received a notice of suspicion of committing the crime.
The key offender, Oleksii Levin, was detained in Bulgaria on January 24, 2020 due to cooperation of local law-enforcement officers with the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine. On March 16, Oleksii Levin was extradited to Ukraine.
