SBU exposed on bribe taking a deputy head of a unit of Volyn region Police Department.

SBU established that the officer set up an illegal scheme of money extortion from suspects. Allegedly, the deputy head of the unit promised to dismiss a case or to recategorize it, as well as to return the seized or distrained property for money.

The law enforcement detained the suspect on receiving USD 700 bribe in the office of Volyn region Police Department. Previously, the law enforcement documented the fact of receiving the first part of bribe amounting to USD 500 by the suspect. In total, the suspect extorted USD 500 for returning a car, previously seized by the law enforcement.

The investigation is ongoing upon the fact of taking a bribe (P. 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issues of serving the detainee a notice of suspicion and choosing a form of detention are being settled.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Lviv city jointly with the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine, under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Volyn region.
