SBU blocks illegal export of armor components
Within the framework of implementation of a set of measures to prevent and neutralize threats to national security, SBU has uncovered and stopped an attempt to illegally export military armor components.
SBU operatives and investigators found that the attackers set up a scheme to supply military components for Russian-made weapons to end-consumers in Asian countries under the guise of civilian goods. Additionally, the goods traffic was made without obtaining relevant permits and approvals of the State Service of Expert Control using the international air passenger transportation channel.
During searches at Boryspil International Airport, law enforcement officers seized various armor components in the luggage of a non-resident. The perpetrator intended to illegally export them under the guise of auto parts, along with sets of contractual and technical documentation proving his illegal activity.
The Investigative Department of the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region initiated criminal proceedings under Art.333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
A pre-trial investigation is ongoing to establish the sources of origin of military units.
Measures to expose the operation were carried out by SBU Main Directorate of Economic Counter-Intelligence Protection of the State's Interests jointly with Kyiv Customs of the State Customs Service of Ukraine under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
