SBU СI detains Russia’s FSB agent collecting intelligence about developments in missile industry (video)
SBU CI prevented another attempt of the Russian special services to obtain secret information on prospective domestic military developments in the missile industry.
SBU employees found that a resident of Luhansk region, while carrying out the task of the Russian special service, established contacts with military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area. The agent offered money to Ukrainian officers who had access to the relevant documentation for providing information of interest to the Russian side. Ukrainian officers reported about the situation to the Ukrainian special service.
The law enforcement detained the agent on May 6th, 2020 on attempt to transmit secret technical documentation regarding a modern missile system to the Russia’s FSB through a messenger.
According to the experts, the information, which the Russian special service was about to get, was classified. Disclosure of that information could cause significant damage to Ukrainian defense capability.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion of high treason (P. 1 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of choosing custody as a form of detention is being settled.
The urgent investigative actions are being carried out under the guidance of the Prosecutor’s Office of Luhansk region.
