SBU detention: Resident of Mariupol city organized drug labs for manufacturing of amphetamine

SBU officers, involved in the JFO, detained a resident of Mariupol city for amphetamine trafficking in Donetsk region.

Allegedly, the dealer set up drug labs for the synthesis of psychotropics in two rented apartments in the city center. The raw materials for drug manufacturing were sent by drug dealers from Kyiv and Dnipro cities via postal services. Moreover, the attacker looked for clients through one of the popular messengers and delivered the order both personally and through the bookmarking system. According to intelligence, he sold almost half a kilogram of “goods” per month.

The dealer was detained according to Art.208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on selling drugs. During searches at the place of producing psychotropics, SBU operatives seized equipment for the manufacture of narcotic substances, 18 kg of precursors and 50 g of amphetamine. The weapons, bank cards and mobile phones were found as well.

The estimated value of the seized batch of drugs is UAH 400,000 (USD 14, 815) at shadow rates.

In the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art.307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the detainee was served a notice of suspicion of committing the crime. The custody as type of detention is being chosen.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Measures to expose illegal activities were carried out under legal supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Donetsk region.
