SBU stops work of security firms that provided information on strategic facilities to so-called DNR

The SBU cyber specialists and investigators under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office stopped the work of several security firms that provided information about critical infrastructure facilities to “DNR” terrorist organization.

The SBU officers established that three former law enforcement officers from Donetsk city are the founders of this business. In 2014, they moved to the Ukraine-controlled territory, but the main office was operating in Donetsk city. So-called authorities of pseudo-republics allowed the offenders to provide security and firefighting services to the “DNR state-owned enterprises and institutions”. They systematically paid taxes to the so-called DNR budget. A part of payments was intended to finance the IAF.

On the territory controlled by Ukrainian authorities, the businessmen provided services for the installation and operation of security systems in Donetsk, Zaporizzhya, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Among the clients were the state critical infrastructure facilities.

The SBU cyber specialists and investigators documented that the offenders transmitted the information, including the technical data, from the strategic facilities to the main office in Donetsk via installed security systems.

The investigation is checking the organizers' cooperation with so-called DNR authorities.

As a result of measure taken in four above-mention regions, the SBU stopped the illegal activity. During the investigation, law enforcement officers found and seized documents and physical evidence proving offenders’ illegal activity.

The investigation is ongoing. Based on its results, a decision will be made to bring the offenders to justice.
