Kherson city: SBU identifies and detains two arsonists of synagogue

The SBU identified and jointly with the National Police detained two offenders that tried to burn a synagogue in Kherson city.

SBU operatives detained two young men who on April 20, 2020, made an attempt to set fire to a synagogue in Kherson city, using a self-igniting mixture. The offenders who supported the Nazi ideology, in collusion with their allies, decided to “celebrate” the anniversary of the Nazi leader in this way.

Law enforcement officers identified the arsonists despite a poor-quality CCTV video. Both offenders were detained on May 9 on attempt to carry out new provocations on the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
