The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with the relatives of the deceased SBU officers Denys Volochaiev and Dmytro Kaplunov, and handed them the orders of Golden Star.

We remind that the fighters of the SBU Center of Special Operations perished in December 2019 while performing a combat mission in the east of the country. They were posthumously awarded the title of the Heroes of Ukraine.

Mother and wife of Denys Volochaiev received the order.

“Denys Oleksandrovych is a hero. I am grateful that he defended Ukraine, our sovereignty and territorial integrity. I believe that it is an honor for every citizen. My great condolences and gratitude,” said the President of Ukraine.

The order of Dmytro Kaplunov was awarded to his wife, mother and father.

“I want to thank you for Dmytro. I understand that this is a very small reward for such great people. They sacrificed the most precious thing - their lives, protecting our peace and lives,” noted Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov expressed his condolences to the families of the SBU officers. He said that the order of Golden Star was a symbol of memory and respect from the state they defended.

“We honor the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. But in fact, they became heroes when they pledged allegiance to the Ukrainian people, when they chose a difficult job - to defend the Homeland, to protect people,” noted Ivan Bakanov.
