Unit commander and militant gunner are convicted to 8 years in prison
SBU CI materials helped to convict two members of the terrorist group of the so-called LNR involved in shelling of Ukrainian military positions.
SBU officers established that both offenders were residents of the temporarily occupied Horlivka. After training at the militants' training center one of them served as the commander of the branch of the so-called LNR people’s police.
Another suspect joined the illegal armed groups after his release from the penal colony. Additionally, he, being a machine gunner of a terrorist group, participated in armed hostilities against Ukrainian military units in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Lysychansk city court of Luhansk region found both attackers guilty of committing the crime under Part 1 Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and convicted them to 8-year imprisonment.
The sentence came into force.
