Luhansk region: SBU CI identifies enemy snipers involved in murder of Ukrainian serviceman

The Security Service of Ukraine identified the members of terrorist sniper group, which on February 27 this year shelled the positions of the JFO units near Novotoshkivske village, Luhansk region. As a result of the enemy attack, a Ukrainian serviceman was killed and another one was wounded.

SBU CI officers and investigators received identification data of a group of militants of the so-called 4th separate motor rifle brigade of the 2nd army corps of LNR, including a representative of the Russian special services. Weapons used by terrorists against Ukrainian combatants, in particular, large caliber machine guns and sniper rifles, have been found as well.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings under Part 3 Art.258 investigative actions are ongoing.

The involvement of enemy snipers into other shelling of JFO units in Popasna district of Luhansk region is also being checked.

Pre-trial investigation in the terrorist attack is carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Luhansk region.
