SBU uncovers large-scale sales system of food supplements, allegedly protecting from coronavirus (video)
SBU cyber specialists exposed a large-scale sale of non-certified dietary supplements via the Internet and an extensive network of call centers.
The sellers focused precisely on the drug characteristics, which allegedly strengthen the body's defenses against coronavirus. In fact, the offenders made profit from people’s fears by misleading them. The illegal business was set up by group of companies, specializing in the BADS sales
During searches at offices, call centers and suspects’ places of residence, the law enforcement seized documents and instructions proving their unlawful activities. Additionally, over USD 1,100,000 were confiscated as well.
The SBU officers jointly with the Main Directorate of the State Fiscal Service in Kyiv city also found that the dealers evaded taxes and fees in especially large amounts due to the sale of food supplements and other goods. The state budget lost more than UAH 80,000,000 (USD 2,962,963).
