SBU exposed misappropriation of UAH 500 million (USD 18,5 million) during the construction of roads of state importance in 2018-2019.

Allegedly, top managers of several big road construction companies used forged building materials quality certificates to win the public procurement. Consequently, the dealers used cheap poor-quality asphalt concrete mixture during the road construction.  Such actions violated the contract between the contractors and Ukravtodor departments.

The law enforcement is currently conducting searches of road construction companies’ offices in nine regions.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate of Economic Counter-Intelligence Protection of the State's Interests, jointly with the National Police investigators, under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
