Lviv city: SBU uncovers corrupt SES Head of Department

SBU officers in Lviv city uncovered the head of the Emergency Prevention Department of the Main Directorate of State Emergency Service on bribe for fictitious inspection of fire documentation of warehouses with pyrotechnics.

According to the investigation, for a fee, the official promised the local private entrepreneur to "blindly" agree the documents on the fire safety condition of a large warehouse located in the city center, and his further loyalty during subsequent inspections. Such actions could lead to emergencies in crowded places.

Law enforcement officers exposed the official while receiving the first part of the bribe. Searches took place at the workplace of the malefactor. The criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 3 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of serving a notice of suspicion of committing the crime to the official is being decided. The involvement of other employees of the Department in the functioning of the corruption scheme is being checked. The investigation is under way. The operation was conducted jointly with the State Bureau of Investigations Territorial Administration in Lviv city under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
