Kharkiv city: SBU CI detains traitor worked for Russian military intelligence (video)
SBU CI exposed and detained in Kharkiv city a Ukrainian citizen, who worked for the 74th intelligence center of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of Russian Armed Forces.
SBU operatives found that the agent was recruited by the special services of the aggressor country while leaving for Russia. Russian curators nicknamed him "Sumrak". Additionally, they have completed the task of collecting restricted data on military units located in Kharkiv region.
Within the part of the criminal proceedings, SBU investigators and CI officers documented the fact of the Sumrak’s gathering restricted-access information on rotation of specific servicemen of Kharkiv air defense brigade in the JFO area.
The law enforcement detained the traitor in the center of Kharkiv city while trying to get a table of password signals for password protection in the air radio networks of the aviation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and state aviation of Ukraine with degree of classification as “secret”.
During the detention and search, law enforcement officers seized data carriers with sensitive information.
Currently, the detainee was served a suspicion notice of high treason (Part 1 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue on сhoosing custody as type of detention is being decided.
Investigation is ongoing.
The operation was conducted jointly with the SBU CI Department under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv region.
