The Security Service of Ukraine has documented millions of abuses by officials of the Lviv Railway Regional Branch while purchasing repair parts for rolling stock.

SBU operatives found that the officials of the branch "agreed" with the businessmen about the purchase of the necessary railway spare parts in the amount of over UAH 3,700,000 (USD 137,038). Allegedly, the contractors supplied used items imported from Russia instead of new one. By using forgeries, the perpetrators transferred the funds received from the state-owned enterprise to the accounts of commercial entities for putting them into the "shadow".

During the authorized searches in the subdivisions of Ukrzaliznytsia, contractors’ offices and warehouses, law enforcement officers seized spare parts for rolling stock, as well as financial and economic documentation with evidences of the fraud.

Within the part of the criminal proceedings initiated under Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigative actions are underway. The involvement of the heads of all of the Regional Branches of  JSC Ukrzaliznytsia in illegal activities is being established.

The exposing operation was carried out jointly with the National Police in Lviv region under the procedural guidance of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
