SBU CI detains Odesa resident who called for creation of so-called "Odesa People's Republic"
SBU CI officers detained in Odesa city a local resident who was trying to destabilize the social and political situation in the region.
Operatives of the special service found that Odesa resident established contacts with pro-Russian separatists from separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and by their order posted destructive materials on personal pages of social networks. He called residents of the region for the support of the pseudo-state formations “L/DNR”, the region's secession and encouraged the creation of the so-called "Odesa People's Republic."
The law enforcement officers conducted searches at the places of registration and residence of the malefactor in Odesa city. The found materials, which testify to his activity to the detriment of state security, were attached to the case.
Currently the investigators have served detainee a suspicion notice of committing the crime stipulated by Part 1 Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided. The pre-trial investigation is underway. The measures to detect the offender were conducted under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region.
