Kyiv city: SBU blocks activities of pro-Russian propaganda group calling for division of Ukraine

SBU stops in Kyiv city a group of pro-Russian provocateurs who called for a violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, agitators, one of whom has a Russian passport, filmed and disseminated separatist materials on the Internet and contributed to inciting international discord. The suspects, in particular, agitated for violation of state borders and establishment of pseudo-state entities in some regions of Ukraine. Moreover, SBU officers found that attackers were often involved in manipulative stories on Russian propaganda TV channels.

The initiated by SBU examination showed that the video footage contains public calls for an encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. During investigation at the group members’ place of residence and temporary stay, law enforcement officers seized anti-Ukrainian materials, scripts and reports on anti-state information campaigns. Money provided by Russian sponsors, data carriers and prohibited literature, memorable awards from the Moscow Higher Military Command School were confiscated as well.

Within the part of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, SBU investigators served a notice of suspicion to the group organizer and his accomplice. Investigation is ongoing. The information on the alleged involvement of certain Russian political forces and public organizations in the financing of anti-Ukrainian propaganda actions is being checked.
