In Berdiansk city, the SBU blocked a bot farm which was a part of extensive interregional network managed by Russia. Its activity focused on discredit of Ukrainian authorities.

SBU cyber specialists established that a resident of Berdiansk city arranged a bot farm that was equipped with all necessary software and devices. Its capacity allowed to publish fakes and manipulative information on behalf of over 500 “bots”. The offender used SIM cards of Ukrainian and Russian mobile operators to register accounts.

The aim was to cause panic during COVID-19 pandemic and to discredit Ukrainian authorities.

During the searches, SBU operatives seized computers with special software, equipment, and almost 900 SIM cards of Ukrainian and Russian mobile operators.

The operation was conducted under the legal supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Zaporizzhya.
