The Security Service of Ukraine documented the facts of illegal deforestation in Yasinyanskyi and Mokryanskyi state forestries.

Allegedly, the officials of the Yasinyanskyi forestry, abusing their office, allowed the unauthorized felling of valuable trees on the territory of the state enterprise.

According to preliminary estimates, the illegal activities of the suspects caused damage to the state environmental fund in the amount of about UAH 7 million (USD 250,000).

Three forestry officials were served notices of suspicion.

In Mokryanskyi forestry, officials of the state-owned enterprise facilitated illegal logging for further sale. The illegal activity caused damage to the state worth UAH 2,5 million (USD 90,000).

The investigation is underway to bring to justice all persons involved in illegal activities.

Both facts were exposed jointly with investigators from the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Lviv city, under the supervision of Prosecutor's Office of Zakarpattia region.
