SBU suppresses smuggling of counterfeit helicopter parts
The SBU exposed supply of counterfeit air parts and helicopter equipment used during agrochemical works in Ukraine.
It was established that officials of a Ternopil region state air enterprise organized a scam. They conspired with managers of a subsidiary company. The offenders illegally discarded, dismantled and removed air units and MI-2 assemblies from the enterprise facilities.
The officials produced fake technical documents to conceal their unlawful activity. They entered invalid repair and recovery details because of poor technical conditions of the equipment.
The SBU officers discovered that stolen air parts were designated for domestic operators using helicopters in agrochemical purposes.
The offenders misappropriated the aviation inventory valued at almost UAH 5 million (USD 176,045).The SBU officers timely blocked its further realization.
The law enforcement carried out searches of offenders’ offices and residences within criminal proceedings initiated for misappropriation of property. As a result, illegally confiscated goods and other documentary evidence, including technical documents, forged repair and recovery statements, financial reports, were seized.
The operation was conducted by officers of the SBU Main Directorate on Economic Counterintelligence Protection of State Interests jointly with the Main Investigative Directorate of the National Police under legal supervision of the General Prosecutor's Office.
