In Kherson and Cherkasy regions, the SSU disrupted the embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the local roads repairing. During the investigative actions, organizers of the scam were exposed.

The illegal activities caused the state losses worth more than UAH 3 m (USD 112,000).

The investigation found that managers of two companies organized the embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the total local roads repairing.

Contractors signed contracts with representatives of several local authorities for the repairing of roads in the regions.

However, the businessmen failed to perform the relevant work and violated the state building codes, and the rest of money was converted into non-observed sector of economy. For that purpose, the perpetrators entered invalid data into the reports.

Following the SSU investigation, the offenders received suspicion notices of embezzlement and forgery in office.

The investigative actions are underway to prosecute all involved individuals.

The operation was carried out by SSU Office in Kherson region and SSU Office in Cherkasy region jointly with the investigators of the National Police and under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.
