President introduced Vasyl Maliuk to SSU personnel

Today, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi introduced the newly appointed Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Major General Vasyl Maliuk, to the SSU personnel.

‘Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Vasyl Maliuk has proved himself a patriot, a professional and exactly the person to run the Security Service of Ukraine,’ Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.

The President appreciated the work of the SSU officers, especially those who are fighting against the enemy in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Vasyl Maliuk thanked the President for the trust and assured him that the entire SSU staff are aware of the level of responsibility and tasks they are facing.

‘Today, we are building a new and modern model of the Security Service. We are placing a special emphasis on counterintelligence. The Service is developing its counterintelligence direction, but we don’t stop fighting the internal enemy: there must be full control of the operational situation and timely identification of any systemic threats to state administration. And not just identification, but also rapid response, documentation and detention of offenders,’ Vasyl Maliuk emphasized.

According to the SSU Head, the special service is changing approaches to its activity and is working systemically: from conducting unique special operations to detaining collaborators and documenting russia’s war crimes.

‘We follow the principle: a leader must work for the Service and for the subordinates, not the other way around. Leading the troops and setting an example for them. The Ukrainian people are waiting for the soonest Victory. I personally and all the SSU personnel will do everything possible and impossible to speed up this Victory,’ Vasyl Maliuk pledged.

The President and the SSU staff observed a minute of silence in memory of the SSU officers who died in the line of duty.
