SSU Head Maliuk reveals details of Crimean bridge explosion and October attack on russian vessels in Sevastopol

The successful maritime drone attack on russia’s Black Sea fleet ships in Sevastopol bay last October was the SSU’s special operation. And the Crimean bridge, as a logistics route for russian troops, is a legitimate target for Ukraine.

This was revealed by the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk to Dmytro Komarov in the film Year. Off-Screen, in which he spoke about details of some of the SSU’s high-profile undertakings during the war.

‘Regarding the situation with the Crimean fleet, particularly the attack by maritime drones, the SSU devised that operational plan and implemented it,’ Vasyl Maliuk informed.

The SSU and the Ukrainian Navy conducted a unique special operation that damaged russian ships.

As for the Crimean bridge explosion, Vasyl Maliuk believes that it is too early to open the details of the operation to the public in order not to disclose additional information to the enemy.

‘According to the norms of our current legislation and international law, customs and traditions of war, and given the fact that it was the enemy’s logistics route we had to cut off, certain such measures were taken. They [the russians] qualify it in their own way: as a terrorist attack, and have imprisoned over 20 of their fellow citizens, charging each with some kind of complicity,’ the SSU Head remarked.

Vasyl Maliuk added that Western special services note the SSU’s high professionalism and adopt our experience in many ways.

In the interview, Vasyl Maliuk also speaks on the SSU’s contribution to Ukraine’s defence and future Victory, de-occupation of our territories, counterintelligence activity and exposing traitors, countering russian special services, and much more.
