SSU Chairman and US Ambassador discuss security issues and cooperation in fight against russia’s aggression

The Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, and the Ambassador of the United States of America to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, discussed key security issues that our country faced during the war, and the cooperation of special services in the fight against russia’s aggression.

This was discussed during their meeting in Kyiv.

‘Today, the top priorities of the SSU are counterintelligence activities and execution of operational combat tasks. All our efforts are aimed at Ukraine's victory in the war,’ Vasyl Maliuk emphasized.

In turn, the Ambassador assured that her goal is to do everything possible to help Ukraine to win the war and build its own independent, secure, and prosperous future.

‘The USA stands side by side with Ukraine in its commitment to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We continue to send assistance and apply our experience to improve Ukraine's capabilities to effectively defend itself,’ Bridget Brink said.

Vasyl Maliuk also mentioned that the SSU seeks to deepen cooperation with foreign partners in countering subversive activities of the third parties and enhancing cybersecurity capabilities.

As the Chairman stated, the SSU is establishing a new and modern model of state security, given war experience. In order to fulfill the task, risk-oriented approaches, analytical work, strategic management, foresight and planning are being used.

Vasyl Maliuk informed that the Security Service has created a working group on the implementation of NATO standards and achievement of partnership goals. At the moment the necessary legislative changes are taking place. For example, the Verkhovna Rada has recently supported a draft law on combating terrorism, which strengthens the capabilities of the special services to repel russian aggression and brings Ukrainian legislation closer to NATO standards.

The SSU Chairman thanked the American partners for the support and assistance that the United States provides to Ukraine in the fight against the armed aggression of the russian federation.
