Ivan Bakanov hears report on results of work of SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region
The leadership of the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region reported on the results of work in 2020 to the SBU Head Ivan Bakanov.
In particular, the Head of the Directorate Oleh Holovash reminded about a number of important operations conducted in Kyiv region, in particular: detention of organized crime members and separatists, combating arms trafficking and smuggling, blocking abuses related to COVID-19, protecting information security and blocking pro-Russian internet-agitators.
The Directorate also focused on the fight against terrorism.
Oleh Holovash reminded that in July two organizers of a series of explosions in the city of Kyiv were detained - near Shulyavska metro station and in a residential building in Podil district. They were served a notice of suspicion of the act of terrorism.
Also he reminded about the actions of the SBU officers during the summer events in the Leonardo Business Center, where they detained a person who had taken the bank's employees hostage.
In total, according to the Directorate, 595 criminal proceedings were registered, and 335 offenders were served notices of suspicion.
In addition, the SBU prevented economic losses to the state in the amount of over UAH 6.1 billion (USD 218 million), about UAH 64 (USD 2,3 million) were returned to the state budget, and the right to state and communal property in the amount of over UAH 112.9 million (USD 4,2 million) was restored.
Ivan Bakanov, in his turn, stressed that the results of the work of the capital region are especially important for the Service.
“After all, the are a lot of strategic facilities in Kyiv, the stable operation of which affects the life of the whole country. Therefore, each division of the Service must work systematically and in a coordinated manner. It is in this case that the overall result will be ensured - the security of the state and its citizens,” Ivan Bakanov stressed.
