SBU blocks large-scale hacker attack against Ukraine’s government resources
The SBU cyber specialists blocked a large-scale cyberattack of the FSB-controlled hacker group “Armageddon”. With the help of the hackers, curators from the aggressor country could gain access to secret data of the supreme public authorities of Ukraine.
The SBU managed to neutralize the consequences and made it impossible for Russian special services to get access to the state information resources.
The SBU informed the authorities about the identified cyber threats via MISP-UA platform.
On this platform, the Situation Center of the SBU Cyber Security Department shared:
- relevant indicators of cyber threats;
- recommendations on measures to detect and prevent unauthorized interference;
- malware search tools.
The SBU conducted a large-scale operation to localize the cyber attack of the Russian special services jointly with the National Coordination Center for Cyber Security at the National Security and Defense Council and in cooperation with the central executive authorities.
Currently, the SBU, jointly with the Criminal Proceedings Supervision Department for crimes committed during the armed conflict and the Prosecutor General’s office are taking all necessary measures to record numerous cyberattacks by foreign special services. The law enforcement effectively investigates cyber incidents to expose all those involved and prosecute them.
The SBU continues its work to expose, record and neutralize every single fact of the Russian hybrid aggression against Ukraine. Also, the SBU does it’s best to prevent them.
