SBU seizes cocaine from European drug courier
The Security Service of Ukraine seized more than half a kilogram of cocaine from a European tourist, who flew to Odesa for a vacation.
Allegedly, the perpetrator transported a wholesale consignment of “stuff" for the local drug traffickers.
Police found the cocaine in his personal belongings during a search at the Odesa International Airport. The foreigner hid the drugs in an energy drink can. On-site rapid tests showed that the packages contained cocaine, as well as small batches of ecstasy and cannabis. The value of the seized drugs at black market prices is over UAH 1,000,000 (USD 35,000).
The criminal proceedings were initiated on drug trafficking (P. 3 Art. 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion.
The investigation is underway. Other persons involved in drug trafficking are being checked.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Odesa Customs under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region.
To remind, earlier in Odesa SBU exposed drug-dealers, selling drugs disguised as cosmetics.
