SSU’s comments on Serhii Naumiuk’s appointment as SSU Deputy Head

Before being appointed to the position of the SSU Deputy Head, Serhii Naumiuk passed all necessary checks required by law, including screening regarding his family and relatives.

Serhii Naumiuk’s close relatives are citizens of Ukraine, while he previously reported that his father and brother had russian passports.

These documents were obtained after Luhansk’s occupation in 2014, where both relatives lived. After leaving the temporarily occupied region, they applied to renounce their russian citizenship. However, the russian authorized are deliberately blocking the consideration of these applications.

At present, Serhii Naumiuk’s father and brother are legally residing in the United States, where they are waiting for revocation of their russian citizenships. They oppose russia’s actions, which has launched a full-scale war in Ukraine.
