SBU CI blocks illegal migration channel to Ukraine
The SBU CI officers exposed and blocked illegal activities of a group of persons who set up an illegal migration channel of foreigners and their illegal regularisation of stay in Ukraine using forged documents.
The SBU established that the offenders created a number of fictitious economic entities in Zhytomyr region, which did not carry out any economic activity. They used them exclusively as a cover for illegal entry and legalization of migrants from one of the Middle East countries in Ukraine. The total cost of the "services" ranged from USD 3,000 to 20,000, depending on the set of forged documents.
On October 21, the SBU CI detained a member of the criminal group in Zhytomyr on receiving money for organizing the illegal transportation of a client to Ukraine. During the searches, the law enforcement officers seized a lot of evidence proving the illegal activity.
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings upon the fact of illegal movement of persons across the state border of Ukraine, the investigation is ongoing. The issues of serving the suspects notices of suspicion of committing the crime and choosing them a type of detention are being settled.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Zhytomyr Region Prosecutor's Office.
