SBU CI disrupts theft and sale of components for military aircraft
The SBU CI blocked the theft and sale of military type property in Khmelnytsky region. The organizers acted on behalf of commercial entities that sold goods to state-owned enterprises of the defense industry, as well as abroad.
Allegedly, a serviceman of a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was stealing components for military aircraft from military supply depots. He passed the components to his accomplices for further sale to customers.
During the search of the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers found and seized almost 120 components prepared for shipment to customers, among which:
- blocks to the front-looking radar "Orion-A" (component of the Puma nav/attack system, installed on Su-24 aircraft);
- blocks to the digital radar complex "Orbit" (component of the Puma nav/attack system, installed on Su-24 aircraft);
- blocks to the radar warning receiver;
- DISS-7 Doppler ground velocity and drift angle meter;
- pumps and components for the fuel system of AL-21F engines of Su-24M (MR) and MiG-23B aircraft.
The detainee received the suspicion notice of misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion or property by malversation. A type of detention is to be chosen. All persons involved in the illegal activity are being identified.
The operation was carried out jointly with the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations, located in the city of Khmelnytskyi, under the supervision of the Khmelnytskyi Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Military and Defense sphere of the Western region.
