In Donetsk region, SBU CI jointly with the CSO “A” detained a resident of Donetsk region, attempting to blow up a distribution substation in the JFO area.

SBU operatives established that the attacker acted on the task of the so-called “DNR Ministry of State Security”. He took an improvised explosive device from a pre-prepared cache, which he intended to blow up on the substation. According to the curators, the explosion was to undermine the social and political situation in Donetsk region, as well as to intimidate the local residents.

As a result, law enforcement officers detained the attacker pursuant to Art.208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was served a suspicion notice for creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization and sentenced to imprisonment.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office.

The pre-trial investigation is underway.
