SSU Counterintelligence systematically checks infrastructure facilities to identify potential traitors

The SSU ensures counterintelligence protection of critical infrastructure, including energy facilities, to defend them from russian missile and drone strikes.

This was stated by the SSU Acting Head Vasyl Maliuk in an interview to Interfax-Ukraine.

‘We work with regards to each site where our facilities are located within counter-sabotage and anti-terrorist measures. What does it mean? We take a specific location, and the SSU, the National Police, the National Guard join efforts. Through a phased filtering out, we find those who are potentially ready to cooperate with the enemy. As a rule, we find those who are already working for them,’ Vasyl Maliuk elaborated.

This is exactly how an employee of a thermal power plant was recently detained. He was supposedly involved in repairs, but in fact was passing coordinates to the enemy for a strike. Now, he is testifying.

The SSU Acting Head reminded that the SSU was collecting evidence on manufacture, transfer and use of Iranian drones and missiles. The SSU is determined to hold the culprits to account.

In general, the SSU is conducting one ‘parent’ criminal proceeding on russia’s war crimes and local proceedings in the regions.

‘It is very important for us to show the whole world not just emotions, but procedural evidence of the enemy’s unlawful activities, its aggression... All evidence is being collected. We are talking not only about openly collected evidence - inspections of the scene and others, but also a large amount of covertly collected proof - obtained through covert search activities. This includes video and audio, occupiers’ conversations,’ Vasyl Maliuk emphasized.

The SSU Acting Head is convinced that the Service will take all necessary legal steps to further develop all procedural actions against russia, including in the international court.
