SBU CI unveils Russian special services’ agent who was trying to smuggle out from Ukraine goods for military-industrial complex of Russia
The SBU CI officers stopped the illegal activities of a Ukrainian citizen who was recruited by Russian special services. By the order of Russian curators, he tried to establish a channel for the smuggling from Ukraine to Russia critically needed for the Russian military-industrial complex electronic devices.
It is established that the resident of the city of Rivne was recruited during his stay in Russia. On assignment of the curator, the perpetrator searched and purchased a number of electronic military products used in the manufacture of weapons and military equipment, including the launch vehicles.
Afterwards the recruited agent was tasked to transfer the products to the Russia. In the case of the scheme successful implementation, the Russians planned to set up a permanent channel for the movement of military and dual-use goods to the aggressor country.
The SBU officers found and seized critical import products that had been prepared by an agent of the Russian special services for smuggling from Ukraine.
Investigators of the security bodies served a citizen of Ukraine suspicion notice of high treason. Operational and investigative actions are underway. The offender is currently giving denunciative evidence and facilitating a pre-trial investigation.
Measures to stop the illegal activity were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Rivne Regional Prosecutor's Office.
