The SBU CI exposed and detained a citizen of Ukraine, an active participant in the illegal armed formation. He is the resident of the city of Kurakhove, Donetsk region, who was the part of the so-called DNR due to ideological convictions in 2014-2015.

Allegedly, during the period, the perpetrator took the direct part in the armed confrontation in Donetsk region. Then he returned to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities in Kurakhove, Donetsk region.

The militant admitted his guilt and confirmed his post as the commander of the 2^nd motorized infantry platoon of the so-called DNR battalion, and then as the duty officer of the so-called Russian Orthodox Army.

During the investigation, the perpetrator provided information about other members of the illegal armed formation.

Currently, the former militant is served a suspicion notice for the creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization.

The operation was carried out jointly with the Donetsk region Prosecutor's Office.
