In Khmelnytsky region, SBU CI terminated activities of a Russian asset. During 2014-2016 he was an active IAF member of the so-called “LNR”.

According to intelligence, in 2021 the perpetrator moved to Khmelnytskyi region to his close relatives. The former militant was acting under the instructions of an identified Russian special service officer. He gathered and passed information about military units in the region. The suspect was particularly interested in the military units that performed tasks in the JFO area.

As a result, the asset was detained during making photos of an army convoy of one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces unit. He planned to transfer the information to the Russian special services.

The criminal proceedings were initiated upon high treason and creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization. The investigation is ongoing.

The issue of choosing a type of detention is being settled.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Khmelnytskyi Region Prosecutor's Office.
